Our Client, an Organisation in the Energy Sector, is seeking to fill the position of Manager, Environment & Carbon Management
The Manager - Environment and Carbon Management is responsible for formulating and guiding delivery of the overall Environmental and Carbon strategy of the organization; working with other functional areas and stakeholders to ingrain said strategy and related processes.
The incumbent will ensure that the Company can maintain ISO certification for its business activities in accordance with ISO 14001 and will also develop a comprehensive Carbon Model for the business to inform an overall Carbon Abatement Management Framework.
Additionally, the jobholder will conduct carbon emission, financial, environmental, and commercial due diligence on investment opportunities to reduce the company's carbon intensity as well as with other sustainability-related partnerships. With sustainable energy provision initiatives and carbon offset project providers, the incumbent will drive the company's potential partnerships by bringing in subject-matter experts from across the business and collaborating with external stakeholders to deliver a sustainable future.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Ensures the development, effective implementation embedding and maturing of a sustainability driven environmental management system that meets the requirements of ISO 14001.
- Ensures the development and implementation of a Carbon Abatement Strategy inclusive of a Management Framework - that - demonstrates a pathway to a lower carbon future for the business.
- Guarantees that an appropriate level of communication, training, mentoring and coaching is conducted to assure the growth and development of technical capability in the business relating to carbon abatement.
- Drives the development and implementation of a suitable Carbon Abatement Compliance Assurance Program to guarantee continued compliance with all applicable legal and other stakeholder requirements and enables the company to demonstrate externally the ability to supply LNG to customers at a lower carbon intensity.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
- A first degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental / Atmospheric Chemistry or a related discipline from a recognized, accredited institution.
- A Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental / Atmospheric Chemistry or any related degree will be an asset.
- A minimum of ten (10) years' experience in the energy industry, with the last seven (7) being within a process plant environment with specific emphasis on knowledge of energy generation systems. At least five (5) years' experience at a senior supervisory level is required.
