The Research & Policy Officer gives research and evaluation support to the Research & Business Analytics Unit, to provide the DBJ with evidence required for the formulation and implementation of policies and products/services.

The Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ) seeks to identify suitable applicants for the position of:

                    RESEARCH & POLICY OFFICER

This position gives research and evaluation support to the Research & Business Analytics Unit, to provide the DBJ with evidence required for the formulation and implementation of policies and products/services.

 PRINCIPAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

a)      Conduct: -

  • desk research and research audits on the Bank and the relevant sectors of the economy.
  • economic analyses, environmental scan, and feasibility assessments.
  • policy analyses; gap analyses.

b)      Prepare: -

  • sector assessments, market research, country studies, product profiles, evaluations, and other relevant studies.
  • Research proposals, technical reports, and other related papers.

c)      Develop, manage, and maintain relevant databases and portfolios.

QUALIFICATIONS -   the required minimum qualifications, experience, and attributes:

  • BSc. In Economics, Social Sciences or equivalent in a related field
  • Specialized training in Research & Policy formulation
  • Project Management Certification would be an asset.
  • Experience in Survey Design would be an advantage.
  • Experience using statistical software, e.g., SPSS, E-views, etc.   
  • Experience with statistical analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Sound understanding of research strategies, methods, and techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical aptitude
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Self-motivated and highly flexible individual who can work independently and as a team with strong interpersonal skills, and who can manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Three (3) years proven experience in research field.
