An organization engaged in industrial and maritime development, wishes to recruit a PILOT BOAT COXSWAIN,

SALARY:  $1,990,694.77- $2,283,572.85 per annum

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for commanding the pilot boat for the embarkation/disembarkation of pilots and any other persons from or to any vessel, craft or installation as required. The incumbent must ensure that the boat is operated in a safe and efficient manner, quality customer service is delivered and that accurate records/log book of the operations and performance of the pilot boat and assigned deckhands and maintained and current. 

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

-          Valid Boat Handling certificate

-          Basic Safety Training certificate

-          Holder of a Coxswain's licence PLUS

-          Minimum 3 year's working experience in a similar capacity

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

-          Kingston harbour and other ports around the island

-          Use VHF radio

-          Vessel inspection (checking fuel, lube oil, coolant), and vessel maintenance, safety and seaworthiness 

-          Skills: Communicate orally and in writing, flexible and adaptable, quality customer service & interpersonal

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Take command of pilot boat and transport pilot(s) to their designated vessels

• Ensure that engine and other equipment are checked and found satisfactory before departure

• Ensure that safety equipment such as life jackets/rings are onboard the pilot boat before departure.

• Ensure that sufficient fuel and lube oil are onboard before departure

• Ensure that tools, boat inventory and equipment are secured and properly maintained

• Report all accidents/incidents involving the pilot boats

• Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of pilots, deckhand and passengers, and equipment on the boat being operated

• Maintain log of pilot boat operation and activities and ensure compliance with the pilot boat operating guidelines and procedures

• Assist in hurricane preparation and respond to emergencies as required
