Jamaica's leading manufacturer of food and beverages seeks to hire a Senior Occupational Safety Health and Environment Coordinator.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Group HSE Coordinator has responsibility to:

  • Provide administrative and technical services for the health, safety and environment (HSE) department
  • Provide relief administrative assistance for the Beverage Plant Manager or Director’s Office as required
  • Assist with conducting HSE inspections, risk assessments, training and accident/incident investigations

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct internal and external HSE trainings, Accident/Incident Investigations and Inspections as required
  • Organize, file and track HSE inspections, reports (including statutory ones) and documents
  • Conduct HSE training, inspections and risk assessment according to schedule
  • Track and manage accident/incident books and assist with the administrative functions around this activity
  • Track and manage the replenishment of First Aid supplies for the Group
  • Manage the HSE Department’s training plan database, all the accompanying documents and administrative functions
  • Perform relief administrative duties for the Beverage Plant Manager or the Director of Manufacturing as required
  • Any other duties as may be assigned within the scope of the job

 

JOB SPECIFICATION/COMPETENCIES [Minimum]

Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Tertiary Level Qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or a science related discipline
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience working in an industrial environment
  • Background in Business Administration or HRM would be an asset
  • Experience working in an organization with a Health, Safety and Environment program would be an asset
  • Excellent communication skills – both in written and verbal formats including the preparation of reports and presentations with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Capable of functioning well individually and on a diverse team
  • People-oriented and results driven with great interpersonal skills
  • Good planning, organization, analytical and time management skills

 

SPECIAL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOB

  • The job is based on a minimum forty-hour workweek; however, the nature of the company’s business will require flexible working hours during the week and possibly on weekends and public holidays.
  • The working environment dictates that the incumbent must be able to multi-task and work within a fast-paced environment
  • Standard office environment with occasional outdoor activity
