Quality Officer/Chemistry Analyst

Our client Parang Industries Ltd. is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Quality Officer/Chemistry Analyst

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will take optimum care assuring the food safety and quality of all products manufactured at Parang Industries Food plant along with the products received and stored by conducting and supporting scientific investigations and experiments.

  • Conduct viscosity testing on all products and ensure that they are at the required specifications.
  • Conduct ATP tests on water, surfaces, equipment, utensils, raw materials, and packaging to ensure no contamination is present.
  • Determining the concentration of CIP Chemicals, sanitizers, and other chemicals on a daily basis or as required.
  • Check chlorine/chemical concentrations on wiping cloth solutions in production areas.
  • Chorine monitoring: check chlorine concentration of water being used for production (tap/tank)
  • Online quality checks: fill temperature, fill weight/volume.
  • Daily scale verification is done, recorded, and verified.
  • Perform routine and ad-hoc chemical analyses and organoleptic assessments of raw materials in-process samples and finished food products using established methods and instrumentation to ensure the quality attributes of the product.
  • Conduct laboratory quality monitoring (temperature, water & environmental)
  • Coordinate with Production Department to meet the guidelines.
  • Monitor laboratory inventory, ensure proper rotations, and ensure laboratory supplies are ordered in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of all analytical data, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality control standards.
  • Interpret analytical results, identify trends or deviations, and report findings (using graphs, tables, etc.) to the Food Safety Team for further action.
  • Ensure samples are retrieved from each batch, documentation written up and sent to the lab for testing and follow up.
  • Ensure that the 3 products required for the Sample Library are obtained and placed in the correct location.
  • Ensure the laboratory meets the guidelines of “Good Laboratory Practice.”
  • Wash and clean all lab utensils, sample jars etc. used in the laboratory.
  • Monitor Critical Control Points to ensure compliance with critical limits and maintain records of same.
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive reports on analytical findings, quality control inspections, and any non-conformances observed.
  • Maintain detailed records of all quality-related activities, including test results, inspection records, and corrective actions taken.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of quality control documents, such as procedures, protocols, and specifications.
  • Support the generation of compliance reports for regulatory agencies and participate in internal and external audits.
  • Conduct regular quality control inspections to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, quality standards, and company specifications.
  • Inspect raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products for physical attributes, such as color, texture, size, and appearance.
  • To ensure that the appropriate personal protective gear is always worn as stipulated by Food Safety SQF standards and regulations.
  • Verification of COA’s and raw material specifications
  • Manage return and transfer goods.
  • Release finished products in accordance with the Positive Release SOP

Qualifications, Competencies:

  • BSc. Degree preferred or recognized qualifications in appropriate scientific subjects e.g. Chemistry, Physics and Biochemistry
  • Sound knowledge of food safety regulations, quality management systems, and industry best practices (e.g., HACCP, GMP, SQF)
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and procedures. Relevant practical laboratory work experience is an asset
  • Responsible individual with a high level of initiative, confidentiality and integrity
  • Well-developed Quality Control & chemical analysis skills
  • Eye for detail and accuracy
