Technical Writer

Role Summary:

Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Writer who will be responsible for documentation of procedures, creation of process flows and operating instructions and the update/creation of forms to support the introduction of new/updated processes or technologies across the organisation. The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining the centralised repository for all procedures, process flows, forms and job aids, etc., across the organisation and for ensuring maintenance and standardisation as per the process governance process.  As the ‘gate-keeper’ for the check-in and check-out of procedures and process flows, the Technical Writer will ensure proper version control of the organisations end-to-end procedure documentation and will also support projects, operations and process reengineering requests for updates to process documentation or organisational forms.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Accurately, clearly and professionally documents processes, flows, charts, circulars, notices, manuals, training material, etc. as per the FCIB process governance standards and validates that the documentation is an accurate reflection of the existing or designed process.
  2. TOrganises and maintains an up-to-date resource of the documentation on the processes, flows, charts, circulars, notices, manuals, training material, etc. in a manner that allows easy access of pertinent information to the relevant units and users across the organisation
  3. Works with SMEs, Process Engineers and other stakeholders to gather and analyse information to ensure it is clearly articulated and documented using industry standard methodologies, e.g., BPMN, Flow Charts, etc
  4. Provides templates and support to internal and external contract resources to ensure that all process documentation, is completed as per CIBC FCIB’s established standards
  5. Continuously seeks to improve the effectiveness and usability of end-user documentation through the use of diagrams, screen-shots or other means that would help to improve their understanding
  6. Ensures the standardisation of process documentation by establishing, maintaining and updating relevant templates and providing guidance on the use of the templates to users
  7. Obtains approval of documented process collateral from SMEs and process owners
  8. Creates and maintains organisational forms to support process and project activities.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Overall experience of over 4 – 5 years in documentation and custody of procedures and flows.
  • Having extensively worked in a similar unit in a multi-branch bank.
  • Advanced proficiency in Ms-Office tools such as Word, Power Point, Visio, etc. including the design and use of forms
  • Experience with various industry BPM standards such as flowcharting and BPNM notation.
  • Experience in research and documentation
