Vice President of Academic Affairs

 

The H. Lavity Stoutt Community College is seeking an exceptional candidate to fill the role of The Vice President of Academic Affairs.

 

The Vice President of Academic Affairs is the chief academic officer of the college and reports directly to the President. The Vice President is responsible for providing academic leadership and supervision of all instructional programmes, policies, and services. The Vice President provides leadership in the areas of student learning and success, the recruitment of faculty and support staff, programme review and improvement, enrollment management, curriculum development, and all associated fiscal projections and monitoring.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consult and advise the President on all instructional matters.
  • Oversee and monitor the implementation of the academic goals contained in the board approved Strategic Plan.
  • Provide leadership in matters related to curriculum and instruction, faculty selection, assignment, development, and retention.
  • Support the ongoing professional development activities of faculty.
  • Represent the College (when directed by the President) in dealings with all stakeholders, including government and industry, the local community, international organisations, alumni, prospective and current students, and current, former, or potential donors.
  • Maintain open and active channels of communication with college faculty and students.
  • Promote the utilisation of college resources to the maximum benefit of students and the community.
  • Promote the articulation of the College’s programmes with other post-secondary institutions.
  • Supervise the departments, centres, and institutes reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs in accordance with the organizational structure.
  • Serve as Liaison to the Academic Committee of the Board, and chair or attend all assigned committees and councils as outlined in the approved governance structure.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the President.

  • A strong well experienced leader who has documented success in inspiring, motivating and engaging an academic community in its ongoing efforts to meet challenges.
  • Excellent administrative skills, with experience in management, budgeting, and planning.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the community college mission including academic and technological and vocational programmes.
  • A strong character and work ethic, honesty, and openness to the idea of others, and an ability to adapt to changing conditions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • An earned doctorate in education from an accredited institution;
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic quality and standards;
  • At least five (5) years of successful senior level leadership and administrative experience within higher education.

 

Salary: Commensurate with Experience
