To plan and coordinate the department with the resources available.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITES:

  • Plan and execute jobs for internal staff and contractors.
  • Co-ordinate jobs being carried out by contractors where applicable.
  • Ensure that jobs are completed at a high standard of quality at all times.
  • Prepare maintenance schedules and preventative maintenance plans.
  • Handle foreign purchasing including sourcing and procuring of parts and machinery.
  • Conduct research for equipment and methods to improve plant efficiency.
  • Co-ordinate with the Maintenance Stores to ensure availability of needed parts.
  • Understand and utilize the CMMS system with the aim of maximizing the reporting and accounting capabilities of the system.
  • Analyze downtime with the aim of reducing same and correcting inefficiencies.
  • Participate in capital planning 

PLANNING

  • Prepare daily work schedules.
  • Consolidate and prioritize all maintenance jobs based on identified needs.
  • Use CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management Systems) to track work orders and schedule jobs.
  • Review technicians’ daily job sheets and collate information for entry into CMMS.

STOCK

  • Implement a tracking system for spare parts and re-ordering using CMMS.
  • Assist with sourcing contractors and negotiating contracts based on identified needs and supervising all contractor jobs inclusive of the development of scope of works and tracking projects to completion.
  • Liaise with foreign suppliers of equipment and spare parts with regard to procurement of parts, trouble-shooting problems, sourcing new equipment and technology.

REPORTS

  • Assist with the preparation of budgets and capital expenditure.
  • Assist with preparation of statistics for management reports.

OTHER

  • Assist with the implementation / execution of plant predictive and preventative maintenance.
  • Assist the Plant Maintenance Manager with ensuring that all operations are conducted in accordance with the Company’s developing HACCP and Health and Safety Management Systems.
  • Assist with the management and delegation of duties to supervisors and technicians.
  • Perform any other related duties that may be assigned by management in an efficient and effective manner.

JOB SPECIFICATION:

Qualification / education:

  • Degree in Electrial Engineering

Skills / Experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in manufacturing environment (preferably in the food manufacturing industry).
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, team building and organizational skills
  • Utilize root cause analysis to develop recommendations  for correcting unexpected machinery breakdowns
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite.
