GENERAL SUMMARY

The Project Manager supports project implementation activities through conception, contract execution, regulatory approval, engineering design, analysis and handover of renewable energy systems. The incumbent plans, leads, organizes, executes and controls medium to large sized projects.

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Business Administration or a related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • At least seven (7) years of experience managing complex projects in a construction, commercial, or industrial environment with a budget value in excess of BBD $2MM.
  • Experience in project management of renewable energy installations.
  • Training in PV design and installation systems

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Familiarity with regulatory codes and standards related to the renewable energy industry
  • Familiarity with applicable electrical, civil, and structural codes and standards
  • In-depth knowledge of best practice to implement proven methods and techniques related to the implementation of a project throughout its life cycle
  • Ability to navigate within AutoCAD, Solmetric PV Design, SMA Sunny Design software packages
  • Strong project management skills, detail oriented and multitasking abilities to manage shifting priorities, to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to direct or work with contractors, installers and equipment suppliers
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly interfaces with ECRL customers, building and managing the customer relationship, contracts, and service delivery.
  • Responsible for the daily administrative and technical management of renewable construction projects including the development of the project scope of work, schedules, budgets and timelines and to determine project requirements.
  • Manages and coordinates all aspects of project execution including design package development, bid solicitation, contractor selection, contract review, HSE reviews and performance, on-site construction, utility connection, invoice approval, schedule monitoring, and customer hand-off
  • Responsible for adherence to the ECRL Contractor Safety Management Program (CSMP) for employees and contractors throughout the execution of projects.
  • Tracks and reports on job progress, monitors critical path activities, tracks outstanding items and reviews project deliverables with the team
  • Conducts site evaluations and generates preliminary engineering designs, energy estimates (audits), cost estimates and proposals for renewable systems
  •  Submission of all documentation required to obtain regulatory approvals for licensing, permitting and utility interconnection of renewable energy systems.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with suppliers to assure competitive cost, stay abreast of new equipment, systems and pricing systems in the industry
  • Evaluates technologies and equipment; recommends most suitable for each application.
  • Develops a resource plan required for the execution of project execution activities.
  • Supervises field staff and contractors in the installation of PV systems to ensure quality control and project delivery on time and within budget, while meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Assesses performance of team members and identifies developmental needs and objectives.
  • Participates in annual budgeting and manages project operational expenditures to achieve overall profitability targets.
  • Advises Management on operational and tactical details related to Engineering and Project Management.
  • Prepares reports for ongoing projects including but not limited to status reports, generating dashboards, employee and contractor attendance and daily snapshots of installation activities.
  • Uses project scheduling and control tools to monitor projects plans, budgets and expenditures and to track hours for work done throughout the project life cycle and keeps teams informed about project status and issues that may impact the project.
  • Responsible for steering change requests through the evaluation process, reviewing, monitoring, verifying and closing all requests that are submitted during a project.

Project sites in an outdoor environment where there may be physical discomfort due to smell, noise, dust, heat, etc. (approximately 50% of the working time).
