The Caribbean Maritime University (CMU), the only specialized maritime university in the English-speaking Caribbean, is inviting applications for Accreditation Specialist (Level 7) and Curriculum Development Specialist (Level 7) posts.

SUMMARY

Accreditation Specialist

The Accreditation Specialist implements operational mechanisms to monitor and measure adherence to accreditation policies, procedures, and standard across the university. The accreditation specialist will conduct internal audits of programme to determine their readiness for accreditation and compliance with established quality assurance policies, procedures, and standards.

The incumbent will liaise with the academic staff across the university to assist in preparing accreditation document and monitoring corrective action plans. The scope of duties includes working collaboratively with the Curriculum Specialist and liaising with academic departments on accreditation related matters.

Curriculum Development Specialist

The Curriculum Development Specialist will be responsible for the development, and revision of all material in the classroom and the approval and implementation of curricula.  The incumbent will liaise with the academic staff across the university to provide specialist technical services in the areas of curriculum development, testing and assessment and development of relevant policies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Curriculum Development, Educational Planning, Educational Administration, Educational Policy or equivalent qualifications.
  • Teachers’ Diploma or Advanced Technical Certification(s) would be an asset.
  • At least three (3) years instructional experience in a tertiary institution with one of those years working in curriculum development, testing and assessment. He/she should also have experience in hosting workshops for adults.

  • Ability to manage teams and delegate responsibilities.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in written and verbal formats.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  • Required to exhibit strong commitment to customer service.

 Performance Standards:

  • Maintains high accreditation and curriculum standards for all academic programmes offered across the university.
  • Demonstrates the capacity for academic leadership and team building.
  • Establishes comprehensive program evaluation techniques and standards to improve and/or maintain operational efficiencies. 
  • Maintains strict adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Generates detailed and effective reports.
  • Must actively participate in the strategic planning process for the university as required.
  • Collaborates with the Quality Assurance Department to conduct academic quality audits.
  • Represents the unit on all relevant university committee.
