Event Lighting Designer & Systems Operator Technician

We are seeking a skilled and creative Event Lighting Designer & Systems Operator Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and operating lighting systems for various events, including conferences, concerts, corporate functions, weddings, and other special occasions. You will work closely with clients, event planners, and our internal production team to bring their vision to life through the use of cutting-edge lighting equipment and techniques.

Duties and  Responsibilities:

 Lighting Design:

  • Collaborate with clients and event planners to understand their lighting requirements and creative vision.
  • Design lighting concepts and create detailed lighting plots, ensuring they align with the overall event theme and objectives.
  • Select appropriate lighting fixtures, accessories, and control systems based on the event requirements and budget constraints.
  • Create lighting cues and programming to enhance the mood and atmosphere of the event.

 Lighting Implementation:

  • Set up lighting fixtures, rigging, and control systems according to the designed lighting plots.
  • Install, focus, and program lighting fixtures, including spotlights, wash lights, moving heads, and LED fixtures.
  • Coordinate with the production team to ensure the seamless integration of lighting with other audiovisual components, such as sound and video systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to lighting equipment during the event.

 Systems Operation:

  • Operate lighting control consoles, dimming systems, and software programs to execute lighting cues during events.
  • Monitor and adjust lighting levels, colors, and effects in real-time to enhance the event atmosphere.
  • Ensure the smooth transition between different lighting cues and scenes according to the event flow.
  • Collaborate with audio and video technicians to synchronize lighting effects with sound and visual elements.

 Equipment Maintenance:

  • Maintain and update an inventory of lighting equipment, including fixtures, cables, control consoles, and accessories.
  • Perform routine maintenance and testing of lighting equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or damage, coordinating repairs or replacements as necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

 

  • Proven experience as an event lighting designer and systems operator technician in the audiovisual production industry.
  • Strong knowledge of lighting equipment, including various types of fixtures, control systems, and programming software.
  • Proficiency in using lighting control consoles, such as GrandMA, Avolites, or ETC systems.
  • Creative flair with a keen eye for detail, color, and visual aesthetics.
  • Excellent understanding of lighting design principles and the ability to translate client requirements into captivating lighting concepts.
  • Strong technical skills to set up, troubleshoot, and operate lighting systems efficiently.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with clients, event planners, and internal teams.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.
