The Janitorial Officer will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in our facilities. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to maintaining a clean and organized environment.

ORGANIZATIONAL PLACEMENT:
Typically Reports to: Assistant Manager, Facilities and Administration
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures.
- Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
- Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, events, etc.
- Strip, clean, buff, and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets.
- Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, high-speed buffers, vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
- Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
- Lock and unlock assigned spaces: secure buildings when facilities are not in use check for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, and turn off lights.
- Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.
- Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing debris from sidewalks and stairs in areas within sixteen feet of buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Skills)
- Proven experience as a janitor, custodian, or in a similar role preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high energy and productivity.
- Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the janitorial cleaning industry.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and stand for extended periods.
- Requires ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals and possibly hazardous materials.
