JOB PURPOSE The jobholder is responsible for providing competent engineering services to ensure that the Instrumentation, Control and Electrical (ICE) equipment at the Atlantic facility are engineered, operated and maintained in accordance with sound principles and practices.

JOB PURPOSE 

The jobholder is responsible for providing competent engineering services to ensure that the Instrumentation, Control and Electrical (ICE) equipment at the Atlantic facility are engineered, operated and maintained in accordance with sound principles and practices, so to promote a safe operating environment and optimise performance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides technical expertise and support on (ICE) systems by guiding relevant personnel on trouble-shooting problems.
  2. Provides input, through the Equipment Specific Maintenance Practice (ESMP) process, for the formulation and implementation of a maintenance program to ensure an adequate schedule for maintenance and safe and efficient equipment.
  3. Liaises with vendors to resolve issues related to equipment performance including guarantee and warranty matters.
  4. Designs and controls the implementation of engineering modifications to the plant and equipment in accordance with the Engineering Technical Practices (ETPs) and the Management of Change (MoC) process.
  5. Performs project management functions for (ICE) Systems modifications and projects by: 
    • formulating the technical scope of work, cost estimate and schedule and
    • monitoring design and construction contractors to ensure that work is carried out in accordance with the technical requirements, the Atlantic Value Process (AVP), recognised engineering practices and safety regulations.
  6. Ensures that all designs and modifications/alterations to Process Plant, Equipment and Systems are performed using accepted engineering methods, standards and practices including the AIMS, MoC procedure, ETPs and Site Technical Practices (STPs).
  7. Facilitate/participate in the IPA FEL toolbox assessment to assure Project Stage Gate readiness.
  8. Support the development and seeks endorsement of the Engineering & Projects Five (5) year CAPEX Projects portfolio.
  9. Lead the annual development and implementation of the Five (5) year Carbon Abatement Plan that demonstrates a pathway to a sustainable lower carbon future for the Atlantic.
  10. Drive Studies for developing a Low Carbon Pathway/ Top Quartile status for Atlantic
  11. Monitors plant and equipment performance by direct observation, utilising available engineering tools and software and reviewing technical reports.
  12. Develops technical specifications and provides guidance and quality assurance in the procurement of materials, equipment and services to ensure conformity with sound engineering practice and cost effectiveness.
  13. Reviews and approves technical specifications, procedures and documents produced by junior engineers.
  14. Facilitates and/or participates in Process Hazard Analyses, Risk Assessments and other formal hazard assessments.
  15. Audits (ICE) systems work performed on site to ensure that work is performed according to safe and sound work practices.
  16. Interfaces with the Production - Operations, Reliability & Maintenance and other discipline engineering groups on assigned issues related to major (ICE) systems modification, redesign and upgrade in the context of expansion projects or plant modifications.
  17. Coaches and mentors staff to ensure growth and development to achieve department objectives and sustainability.
  18. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Instrumentation/Controls/Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognised, accredited institution.
  • Professional qualification/certification with  at least one (1) of the following: the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago, a Professional Engineer (P.E.) US Standard or Chartered Engineer (C.E) UK Standard.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years’ relevant experience as an Electrical, Instrumentation or Controls Engineer within an oil and gas environment.
  • Experience with GHG emissions / Carbon Abatement work will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the design, operation and maintenance of Electrical, Instrumentation Equipment and Controls systems.
  • Knowledge of plant maintenance philosophies.
  • General knowledge of Distributed Control System (DCS), Safety Instrumentation System (SIS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems and low voltage switchgear and motor control centers.
