Income Auditor

Job Summary:

As a hotel income auditor, you are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations within the hotel. Your primary duties involve auditing daily revenues, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports. This role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of hotel operations and financial procedures.

Responsibilities:

  1. Daily Revenue Audit:
    • Audit daily revenue reports from various departments (front desk, food and beverage, etc.)
    • Verify accuracy of revenue figures against supporting documentation (receipts, POS reports, etc.).
    • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or irregularities in revenue reporting.
  2. Account Reconciliation:
    • Reconcile revenue accounts with the general ledger and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
    • Monitor credit card receivable and follow up on any outstanding balances or discrepancies.
    • Prepare and post journal entries as needed to correct errors or adjust accounts.
  3. Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports summarizing revenue, expenses, and profitability.
    • Present financial reports to management and provide insights into financial performance and trends.
    • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes based on financial analysis and historical data.
  4. Compliance and Internal Controls:
    • Ensure compliance with hotel policies and procedures, as well as accounting standards and regulations.
    • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard hotel assets and prevent fraud.
    • Participate in internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations as required.
  5. Team Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with other departments (finance, front office, operations) to resolve issues and improve financial processes.
    • Provide training and support to hotel staff on financial procedures and systems.
    • Foster a positive and productive work environment through effective communication and teamwork.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Previous experience in auditing or financial accounting, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in financial software and MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

Working Conditions:

  • Typically works in an office environment within the hotel.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work to meet deadlines or during audits.
  • Must be comfortable working with sensitive financial information and maintaining confidentiality.
