Reporting to the Finance Director, the IT and Data Protection Manager will be responsible for coordinating/planning related activities for the management of the Information, Technology and Communication systems, hardware, and protocols at CBL.

The incumbent will oversee the end-user support while liaising with Pepsi Cola Jamaica Limited, CBC, Red Stripe and Heineken MIS support teams. The IT & Data Protection Manager will also be responsible for the management and implementation of and maintenance of new ICT and Data Protection projects. This will include evaluation and subsequent migration of existing systems to provide continuous service availability, and advising the executive leaders on the technology used and how it is aligned to the company’s achievement of a distinct competitive advantage.


Main Responsibilities


  • Review existing ICT systems and internal processes; collect and analyze data to identify areas for improvement within ICT infrastructures.
  • Develop, test, and implement ICT and Data Protection systems to further and manage information technology and computer systems.
  • Define, analyse, plan, measure and improve all aspects of the availability of ICT services, including (Networks LAN / WAN, data centre, PBX plant, and helpdesk), using models information engineering, and cost-based accounting processes to design new systems.
  • Troubleshoot and debug ICT systems to ensure error-free functionality and end-user satisfaction, ensuring security of data, network access and backup systems to preserve assets, information security, data protection and control structures, audit systems and assessing their outcomes.
  • Leverage knowledge of cutting-edge ICT technologies to optimize organisational efficiency, acting in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organisational policy.
  • Handle annual ICT budget and ensure cost effectiveness, participating in team meetings, providing input on intelligent solutions to improve efficiency, identifying problematic areas and implementing strategic solutions in time.
  • Design, develop, implement, and coordinate systems, policies and procedures, working with management to determine ICT and data protection objectives that will improve company outcomes.
  • Manage IS employees by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance according to company policies.
  • Lead the design, configure, install, and maintain local area network hardware, software, and telecommunications services such as personal computers, system software (including anti-virus and anti-spyware), software applications (including MS Office), printers, servers, routers, bridges, switches, modems, cabling, and Internet service providers at both head office and remote locations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to network hardware and software acquisition, use, support, security, and backup, and align to Grupo Mariposa policies where applicable.
  • Lead training for users on software and equipment usage in liaison with Grupo Mariposa MIS support teams.
  • Develop and communicate standards for the use, operations, and security of the network, personal computers, and data with Grupo Mariposa policies where applicable.
  • Consult with department managers to develop system and data protection solutions consistent with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Procurement team to negotiate contracts with vendors and coordinate activities of hardware, software, telecommunications, data protection support and training.
  • Develop and Implement disaster recovery procedures (With Grupo Mariposa MIS support team)
  • Lead and coordinate support to users outside normal working hours, whether it be by telephone, remote access dial-in, or on-site as needed.
  • Monitor video surveillance backups, and change backup tapes on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis.
  • Maintain video surveillance backup logs and prepare backup tape rotation schedules for offsite storage couriers and liaise with offsite couriers to return tapes when needed for data restores.
  • Ensure optimal operational efficiency by overseeing the maintenance of IT equipment and systems, utilizing contractual agreements and preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Lead comprehensive maintenance efforts for IT equipment and systems, conducting regular audits to ensure accountability and functionality across all locations.
  • Ensure compliance with the fixed asset policy for all purchasing disposal and audit activities related to IT Equipment and systems.
  • Direct the implementation or upgrade of all software and IT equipment deployments.
  • Review the IT equipment policy at least annually, ensuring strict adherence to its guidelines and standards.
  • Ensure that all IT incidents are resolved promptly to mitigate significant operational and financial risks to the business.


Academic qualifications and experience required for the job

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, CBMIS, MIS, ICT or a related area
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience working in an ICT management/supervisory role or 10 years working experience as a Network Administrator.
  • At least three (3) years of professional experience in a Microsoft Windows environment ( Windows NT4.0 server/Windows 2000 server/Windows 2003 server/Windows 2000 Professional/Windows XP Professional)
  • MCP qualification minimum
  • CompTIA A+, CCNA, CompTIA Security +, Data Protection or other ICT Certification would be an asset
  • Considerable knowledge of current hardware and software developments both local and international

  • Strong working knowledge of ICT security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
