Overview: Our client is one of the leading Real Estate Organizations in Barbados. Due to growth, they are seeking to recruit a proven professional to protect critical information, systems, and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and assist in the development of an overall IT strategy.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, and hardware. 
  • Set up and manage networks (local area network or LAN, wide area network or WAN).
  • Configure and manage network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Manage cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Set up and maintain cloud resources, virtual networks, and storage.
  • Ensure cloud security and cost-efficiency.
  • Monitor system performance using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or custom scripts.
  • Ensure all systems are running efficiently and troubleshoot performanceissues.
  • Regularly review system logs for potential issues and anomalies.

  • Manage and maintain server infrastructure, both physical and virtual.
  • Ensure servers are patched, updated, and performing optimally.
  • Set up and manage server roles, such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file sharing.
  • Ensure the security of IT infrastructure by applying patches and security updates.
  • Set up firewalls, VPNs, and other security mechanisms to protect systems and data.
  • Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Respond to and mitigate security breaches or incidents.
  • Implement and manage data backup solutions.
  • Regularly test backup systems and disaster recovery processes.
  • Ensure business continuity by setting up failover systems and off-site backups.
  • Act as 2nd tier support for helpdesk reported incidents deemed to be an infrastructure issue.
  • Diagnose and resolving system-related problems.
  • Help with hardware failures, software crashes, and network outages.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Maintain accurate records of systems, network diagrams, hardware inventory, and software versions.
  • Provide reports on system performance, capacity, and issues to upper management.
  • Work with IT teams, developers, and other departments to support business needs.
  • Coordinate with vendors for software, hardware, and support services.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of new technology solutions.
  • Monitor resource utilization and plan for future growth or upgrades.
  • Ensure that there is adequate infrastructure to meet current and future demands.
  • Implement load balancing and ensure high availability of critical systems.
  • Ensure systems comply with industry standards, regulations (e.g.,GDPR, HIPAA), and company policies.
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to IT systems.
  • Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within a larger business initiative.
  • Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems that provide commercial advantage in a global marketplace.
  • Enable faster and smarter business processes and implement analytics for meaningful insights.
  • Partner with internal and external partners to communicate project status, activities, and achievements.

 

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Cisco CCNA or a comparable networking certification would be an asset.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role·
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with OS X server setup and administration would be an asset.
  • Experience with or knowledge of server and client operating systems; current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, system performance-monitoring tools, active directories, switching, routing, VLANs, VoIP, QoS, PoE, WAN technologies, MDM virtualization, cloud services.
