IT Manager

Position Overview:

The IT Manager works toward ensuring that the Credit Union utilizes the most efficient technology-based solutions available.  The incumbent provides direction for the Information Technology Department, which strives to make NCBECCU a leader in utilizing innovative technology. 

In addition, the IT Manager is in charge of maintaining the technical security and viability of institutional applications and databases.  This requires long-term vision and planning, as well as the ability to execute in the short-term.  Current knowledge of the industry is a necessity.

Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Information Systems or Business Administration  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Business administration
  • Five years’ experience in Information Systems/Technology management
  • Three years IT experience in a financial institution
  • Three years’ experience in IT operations and Support

Specialized Skills, Techniques/Learned Disciplines:

  • Extensive knowledge of business processes and their interrelationship.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both technical and interpersonal.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills and effective presentation skills, all geared toward coordination and education.
  • Full working knowledge of networked computer solutions including design and implementation is essential
  • Ability to work with industry standard hardware, operating systems, applications software, and networks
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Skill in internal customer relationship management and business development within a technical environment
  • Experience with monitoring systems 
  • Knowledge of IT Risk management and information security
  • Able to design and implement robust departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Project management experience
  • Working knowledge of computer security threats and counter measures

Leadership and Business Skills:

  • Business principles and techniques of administration, organization, and management.
  • Proven ability in strategic and operational planning, economics, personnel administration, regulations, financial and cost analysis.
  • Success at motivating team members to collaboratively accomplish assigned tasks while maintaining a healthy working environment.
  • Ability to negotiate and defuse conflict.
  • Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects with diverse priorities.
  • Business process analysis and redesign expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of, contracting, negotiating, organization development/change management and action planning.
  • Experience in budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Good intra-personal skills as evidenced by a healthy team spirit and the ability to relate to all levels of the user community.
  • The ability to translate technical language to lay audiences.
  • Plan, implement and support systems in a complex environment
  • The ability to easily understand complex and technical matters.
  • Success at linking and applying complex technologies to business strategies

Special Conditions Associated with the Job:

  • Expected to work outside of office hours to correct any system problems that may arise.
