Basic Salary: $2,245,059.00 per annum
Under the general direction of the Manager, Corporate Communications and Public Relations, the Information Officer assists in the execution of the TEF’s Communication/Public Relations Programmes. This includes conducting research, assisting in the preparation of speeches, creating electronic materials on the work of the TEF (e.g. media monitoring and liaison, events management/planning), and facilitating effective communication between the TEF and its stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Management/Administrative Responsibilities
- Ensure the timely receipt, review, and posting of current news releases from credible sources to the TEF’s website.
- Collaborate with Unit/Divisional Heads to maintain up-to-date and accurate information on the TEF's activities across internal and external platforms.
- Coordinate with media houses to acquire photographs, video footage, and other media assets required for TEF projects and initiatives.
- Assist with the daily monitoring of talk shows, news reports, editorials, and other media outlets to track issues relevant to TEF or industry developments.
- Update and maintain a comprehensive media contact list and general mailing lists for efficient communication.
Technical/Professional Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough research to support the preparation of speeches, messages, interviews, and other public communication materials for the TEF.
- Assist in developing and implementing internal and external public education programmes that align with TEF’s strategic objectives.
- Create and manage engaging content for the TEF’s website, intranet, and social media platforms, integrating text, visuals, and multimedia elements.
- Represent the TEF by actively participating in workshops, expositions, and public presentations.
- Assist in the production of TEF publications, ensuring high-quality standards and relevance to the audience.
- Ensure that all media assets, including photographs and video footage, are properly captioned, recorded, and organized for easy access.
- Monitor print, electronic, and online media daily, identifying and tracking relevant issues, mentions, and coverage related to the TEF.
- Maintain a detailed Media Monitoring Log to track media coverage and industry trends.
Media Monitoring and Content Analysis:
- Monitor print, electronic, and online media daily.
- Monitor print and electronic media for issues relating to the TEF, such as talk shows, as assigned by the Director.
- Complete the daily Media Monitoring Log.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- Excellent knowledge of public relations principles and practices.
- Comprehensive knowledge of media relations.
- Ability to coordinate a wide range of diversified activities.
- Proficiency in the use of relevant communication software and tools.
- Excellent research, presentation, oral, and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
Minimum Required Qualification and Experience:
- Diploma in Public Relations, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in public relations/communications.
- Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years’ experience in a similar or related position in communications/public relations.
Special Conditions Associated with the Job:
- Required to work outside of normal working hours, including weekends and public holidays, to meet deadlines.
