Hydroponic Gardener to set up, manage and maintain hydroponic systems and tilapia pond.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Hydroponic Gardener to set up, manage and maintain hydroponic systems and tilapia pond. The ideal candidate must have a passion for aquatic life, sustainable agriculture, gardening, and growing food using innovative methods  with the ability to ensure the pond environment remains balanced and thriving. The role includes monitoring water quality, caring for aquatic plants and animals, and ensuring that pond systems and equipment function properly.

 

System Management:

  • Set up, maintain, and monitor hydroponic systems
  • Set up, maintain, and monitor pond area
  • Ensure the proper functioning of pumps, grow lights, and nutrient delivery systems.
  • Regularly clean and sanitize equipment to prevent disease and contamination.

Plant Care:

  • Monitor plant growth, ensuring adequate light, water, and nutrients.
  • Trim, prune, and harvest crops as needed.
  • Identify and address plant health issues such as nutrient deficiencies, pests, and diseases.
  • Manage & maintain fish

Aquatic Life Care:

  • Monitor the health of fish, plants, and other pond life (e.g., amphibians, invertebrates).
  • Feed fish and other pond creatures as required, ensuring the proper diet for each species.
  • Inspect fish for signs of disease or injury and manage treatment if needed.

 

Pond Maintenance:

  • Clean and maintain pond filtration systems, pumps, and aerators to ensure proper water circulation.
  • Manage pond landscaping, including trimming or removing plants to maintain a balanced ecosystem.
  • Remove debris, leaves, and algae from the pond regularly to maintain water clarity and cleanliness.

Aquatic Plant Management:

  • Ensure the health and growth of aquatic plants by monitoring nutrient levels, light, and temperature conditions.
  • Prune and propagate plants as necessary.
  • Control the spread of invasive plant species.

Pond Equipment Maintenance:

  • Check and maintain pond pumps, filters, fountains, and other equipment.
  • Clean and service equipment to ensure it operates efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment when needed.

 

Seasonal Adjustments:

  • Prepare the pond for seasonal changes, such as winterizing equipment and protecting aquatic life during colder months.
  • Manage pond water levels, temperature, and oxygenation to suit different seasons.

Experience in hydroponics, pond care, landscaping, or horticulture is preferred.

  • Knowledge of aquatic ecosystems, water quality testing, and pond maintenance.
  • Ability to handle tools and equipment such as pumps, nets, and cleaning tools.
  • Familiarity with aquatic life (fish, plants) care is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry to handle water treatments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications in horticulture, landscaping, or a related field may be an advantage.
  • License: A valid driver’s license may be required.
  • Physical Fitness: Must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working around water and potentially slippery surfaces.
