The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for coordinating the recruitment of assigned categories of employees; also assists with the administration of employees’ welfare programmes and the preparation and computation of the fortnightly and monthly payroll.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for coordinating the recruitment of assigned categories of employees; also assists with the administration of employees’ welfare programmes and coordinates the records management function of the Department.  Also responsible for the preparation and computation of the fortnightly and monthly payroll. The duties include:

  • Processes requests for recruitment, using suitable sources and methods for identifying applicants
  • Conducts short-listing and reference checks of applicants and assists with the organizing of interviews
  • Conducts interviews and selects suitable candidates; follows up to ensure timely preparation of employment contract, etc.
  • Processes final payment and assists with conducting exit interviews for employees leaving the organization
  • Assists with the planning and organizing orientation sessions for new recruits
  • Participates in the planning and organizing of staff social and recreational activities
  • Ensures vacation, sick, departmental, compassionate & study leaves are calculated in accordance with established procedures and approves leave requests for assigned categories of employees
  • Maintains computer-based payroll and other accounting packages relevant to the job function.
  • Responsible for producing the payrolls for the fortnightly and monthly paid workers, inclusive of record keeping and processing pay. 
  • Prepares and maintains general ledger reconciliations for expenses, statutory, receivable, net pay and bank account.
  • Prepares all payroll and statutory journal entries.
  • Calculate all statutory and non-statutory deductions and maintain/reconcile the staff loan accounts.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management
  • Training in compensation and benefits administration
  • Training in payroll preparation and administration
  • Three (3) years’ experience in Human Resource Management
  • Two (2) years’ experience in Payroll Management & Administration
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
