The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Human Resource Officer, on contract.

The Human Resource Officer is responsible for supporting the PLT department in various functions including HR administration, recruitment and selection, employee relations, performance management, training and development and compliance with labour laws. This role plays a crucial part in enhancing the employee experience and fostering a positive workplace culture.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in an HR Generalist role.

Considered an asset:

  • Forty (40) hour mediation certification 

Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:

  • Recruitment and Selection

    • Assist in the development and implementation of recruitment strategies.
    • Post job openings on various platforms and manage the application process.
    • Screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate candidate assessments.
    • Facilitate onboarding processes for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Employee Relations
    • Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns.
    • Assist in resolving workplace conflicts and facilitating discussions between staff and management.
    • Support the implementation of employee engagement initiatives and programs.
  • Performance Management
    • Assist in the development and execution of performance appraisal processes.
    • Provide guidance to managers on performance-related issues and best practices.
    • Maintain records of performance evaluations and follow-up actions.
  • Compliance and Policy Administration
    • Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies.
    • Maintain and update employee records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
    • Assist in the development and revision of HR policies and procedures.
  • Training and Development
    • Identify training needs and assist in the coordination of training programs.
    • Support employee development initiatives and career progression planning.
  • HR Administration
    • Maintain HR databases and ensure data integrity.
    • Prepare reports and presentations related to HR metrics and initiatives.
    • Assist with payroll processing and benefits administration.
  • Perform any other related duties as directed by the assigned PLT Lead.
