Providing advice and guidance to managers on performance management, recruitment and other HR related issues. Providing orientation for all new employees

Purpose of Role: The HR Business Partner works closely with line management to provide daily HR guidance to ensure effective implementation of HR policies and procedures while engaging with employees to pre-empt and resolve issues. The incumbent acts as a consultant, aligning HR practices with business goals to support the organization’s success.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Consults with line management and provides expertise and advice on HR matters and policy guidance to enable effective decision making
  • Prepares HR metrics and analyses trends to identify areas for improvement and to generate reports
  • Anticipates and resolves complex employee relations issues and addresses grievances by promoting a positive workplace culture and facilitates employee engagement initiatives
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention
  • Leads and participates in recruitment efforts for the business unit, ensuring the attraction, selection and on boarding of top talent whilst monitoring and reporting on manpower and succession planning
  •  Develops and implements performance management programs, including goal setting, performance evaluations and feedback processes, identifying training needs for teams and individuals
  • Ensures the roll out of a structured orientation and onboarding process with line management for all new employees
  • Conducts training and awareness programmes for all employee and managers as required i.e. grievance handling, attendance management, ethical trading initiative (ETI code), Human Rights etc.
  • Suggests new HR strategies to support departmental goals and objectives and reviews compensation for internal equity and external benchmarking
  • Manages the Centre of Expertise role for the Company based on assigned HR functional area of focus
  • Interpret and advise on HR policies, develop contract terms for hires and transfers, and handle all HR transactions for employees within the business unit
  • Leads the disciplinary process in line with standard policies and procedures
  • Manages the off-boarding process for departing employees, including conduct exit interviews and exit formalities.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date employee records
  • Comply with all HSE policies and procedures in order to reduce the occurrence of accidents and incidents.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the departmental manager.
Education and Specialization: B.S.c Human Resources Management, Sociology or related discipline
Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Human Resources operating at the tactical and strategic levels

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing complex human resource management processes and initiatives
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
