Are you a leader with a passion for hospitality and excellence? We are looking for an experienced Bar Chief to join the Hotel Catalonia, Montego Bay team and oversee the bar operations at this renowned hotel. This pivotal role requires a strong commitment to quality, leadership, and seamless service delivery.

General Job Description:

As the Bar Chief, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the company’s processes and quality standards, maintaining the highest level of service, and fostering a collaborative environment to enhance guest satisfaction. Your expertise will be essential in supervising, evaluating, and training staff, ensuring smooth operations, and achieving the department’s productivity and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with company processes and quality standards.

  • Perform daily beverage costings in collaboration with the cost controller and A&B Manager.

  • Supervise bar setup to align with the company’s standards.

  • Monitor the cleanliness of all service points, bars, and ensure all equipment is in good working condition.

  • Maintain effective communication with other hotel departments to ensure top-notch guest service.

  • Supervise cleanliness and equipment before starting and after operations.

  • Evaluate department costs and implement corrective measures when needed.

  • Provide support during peak hours or as required.

  • Ensure bar services meet hygiene standards set by auditing companies.

  • Monitor daily beverage movement and conduct monthly inventory checks.

  • Supervise par stock security at the bars.

  • Assist the bar supervisor in setting and achieving performance and productivity targets.

  • Foster an interest in efficient beverage control within the bar team.

  • Assign responsibilities to enhance bar operations.

  • Hold meetings to inform and engage your team.

  • Prepare technical sheets for cocktail menus.

  • Create incident reports for the immediate supervisor.

  • Motivate and evaluate staff performance.

  • Oversee promotions, hires, terminations, and HR-related matters for your team.

  • Provide training for department staff.

  • Perform other related tasks as needed.

Educational Requirements, Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management or related field, or Professional Technician.

  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Food and Beverage sector within hospitality.

  • Positive attitude and strong leadership qualities.

  • Excellent planning, coordination, and organizational skills.

  • Proactive approach and ability to work independently.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication.

  • Team-oriented with decision-making abilities.

  • Passion for hospitality, innovation, and creativity.

  • Initiative and conflict management skills.

Additional Information:

  • Residence in Montego Bay or surrounding areas is preferred.
