We are looking for a experienced Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in diesel engines, hydraulics, and other systems critical to heavy machinery.
Job Description of the Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Mechanic are as follows:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and systems including brakes, steering, hydraulics, and transmissions.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire inspections, and fluid checks on heavy-duty vehicles.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and develop cost-effective solutions for repairs.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment and tools to pinpoint issues in diesel-powered machinery.
- Replace and repair worn or defective parts, including bearings, brake pads, and seals.
- Test drive repaired vehicles to ensure they are functioning properly.
- Keep detailed maintenance records and communicate with team members or clients about repairs and estimated timeframes.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following safety protocols at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in diesel mechanics or a related field is preferred.
- 4+ years of experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems and their repair techniques.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license (Special Drivers License to Operate Heavy Duty machinery ideal).
- Physical ability to lift heavy parts and work in various positions.
Working Conditions:
- This position involves working in a shop environment, but fieldwork may be required depending on the job.
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions and lift heavy equipment.
Requirements:
- Selected Candidate will be required to provide Police clearance
- Select candidate: Will be required to provide necessary documents for processing of a TCI Work permit
