1. Leadership and Commitment - Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and programs that are aligned to ISO 45001 requirements as well as the organization’s and Group’s strategic objectives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health and safety legislation and advise management accordingly.
- Understands and actively promotes adherence to the Company’s established HSE policies and procedures, good manufacturing practices (GMPs), Food Safety and Quality requirements.
2. HSE Operations - Develop an annual risk based HSE plan for inspections, audits, job/general risk assessments, safety walks and training needs.
- Ensure that the hazard recognition and near miss programs are maintained to facilitate timely and accurate reporting of safety related matters.
- Ensure that corrective actions in response to risks, audits and other hazard identification programs are appropriate and implemented in a timely manner. and that the requisite root cause, corrective manner.
- Oversee and facilitate the analysis of all incidents (medical cases, first aid, injury etc) to ensure that the employee(s) involved first receive the medical attention needed. Analysis includes establishment of the learning teams for each incident, root cause analysis, PSIF assessments and measure to mitigate the risks going forward.
- Develop and oversee emergency response plans, including fire drills and first aid procedures.
- Work with department heads to address and improve workplace safety concerns.
- Develop and maintain robust systems for critical areas such as confined space, contractor safety, LOTO etc.
3. Training & Employee Engagement - Supports the effective functioning of Safety committee to oversee measures taken to ensure the safety and health of persons at the place of work and to formulate actions for continual improvement of the management of safety management system.
- Facilitates the development and continual improvement of HSE Focus Teams
- Continually reviews and where necessary makes recommendations for new work practices, procedures, materials, equipment or modification of existing equipment
- Designs and conducts HSSE training/orientation and awareness programmes and assesses participants for achievement of HSE training objectives.
- Assesses the level of competency in high-risk areas at least once annually to provide input to the annual training plan.
- Accomplishes HSSE staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining subordinates; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results and conducting training and implementing enforcing Company applicable employee relations systems, policies, and procedures
- Develops monthly HSE Communication strategy for all levels of staff, to include written information, toolbox talks and HSE Moment briefs
- Ensures that working systems are in place so that all employees and contractors:
- Ensure delivery of health and safety training to employees, ensuring an adequate level of competency in understanding workplace hazards and executing safe work practice, conducting toolbox talks, workshops, and refresher training sessions as needed.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging employees in health and safety initiatives.
4. Documentation and Reporting - Maintain accurate health and safety records, including incident reports, training records, and inspection checklists.
- Prepare regular reports on health and safety performance for senior management and Group Office.
5. Continuous Improvement - Develop strategies for continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
- Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements in workplace safety.
- Implement best practices to enhance the overall safety of employees and the working environment.
Other - Performs any other job-related duties as directed by the HSE Manager, General Manager or Group Sustainability Executive.
