The Business & Employment Centre on behalf of its client Business Barbados, is recruiting for the full-time role of Head of Marketing and Communications.

Job Title: Head of Marketing and Communications
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Direct Reports: Marketing Executive, Communications Specialist, Brand Designer

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape.
  • Create and manage annual marketing plans and budgets.


Brand Management:

  • Build and maintain a strong, consistent brand image and voice.
  • Oversee the development and execution of brand guidelines.
  • Ensure brand integrity across all marketing and communication channels.
  • Maintain awareness of Brand Barbados to ensure high level alignment and to allow for strategic partnerships.


Campaign Development and Execution:

  • Plan, create, and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns to drive brand awareness and engagement.
  • Utilize various marketing channels including digital, print, social media, events, and PR.
  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance and adjust strategies as needed.


Content Creation and Management:

  • Oversee the creation of high-quality, engaging content for various platforms including websites, blogs, social media, and press releases.
  • Ensure all content aligns with brand messaging and strategic objectives.


Digital Marketing:

  • Develop and execute digital marketing strategies to increase online presence and engagement.
  • Manage SEO, SEM, email marketing, social media, and online advertising campaigns.
  • Analyze and report on digital marketing metrics and ROI.


Public Relations and Media Relations:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists.
  • Manage public relations activities including press releases, media pitches, and interviews.
  • Handle crisis communication and reputation management.


Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Develop communication strategies to engage and inform stakeholders, including customers, partners, and employees.
  • Organize and participate in events, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders.


Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the marketing and communications team.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
  • Set team KPIs, performance goals, and conduct regular performance evaluations.


Market Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct market research to understand customer needs, preferences, and behaviors.
  • Analyze market trends and competitive activities
  • Use insights to inform marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Collaborate with the Executive team to solidify Business Barbados’ competitiveness globally.


Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the marketing budget.
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure cost-effective marketing solutions.
  • Report on budget performance and financial metrics.


Perform any other job -related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), or similar are a plus.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in marketing and communications, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
