Our Client, East Caribbean Group of Companies (ECGC), is seeking to fill the position of Head of Information Technology (IT). This is a permanent position based in Campden Park, St. Vincent. This position is open to CARICOM Nationals.

ABOUT ECGC:

The East Caribbean Group of Companies (ECGC) operates in the manufacturing sector with a focus on food supply. The business is structured as GRAINS - Flour, Feeds, Rice and BEVERAGES - Water, Sodas, Energy, and Juices. ECGC exports to the OECS, the wider Caribbean, and the World.

  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy that supports the company’s business objectives.
    • Oversee IT operations to ensure the smooth functioning of the systems (e.g., ERP, production automation systems, point-of-sale, inventory management).
    • Provide technology insights and recommend solutions to optimize processes, reduce costs, and support growth.
    • Align IT initiatives with organizational goals and ensure that technology capabilities are effectively leveraged to deliver results.
    • Establish and maintain technology governance frameworks, including IT policies, standards, and processes.
  • Team Management & Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team to ensure the provision of top-tier support and systems management.
    • Oversee the performance management and development of the IT team to ensure they are well-equipped to manage day-to-day IT operations and end-user support.
    • Ensure continuous professional development for IT staff and drive a culture of innovation and proactive problem-solving within the team.
  • Systems & Infrastructure Management:
    • Oversee the maintenance and security of the company’s IT infrastructure, including network, servers, workstations, and cloud environments.
    • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of IT systems, particularly critical manufacturing systems and retail point-of-sale and e-commerce platforms.
    • Direct the deployment and integration of new technology solutions to support business operations.
    • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure optimal IT service delivery.
  • Cybersecurity & Compliance:
    • Ensure that all systems and data are fully protected against cyber threats and that cybersecurity protocols and incident response plans are up to date.
    • Lead initiatives for data security, backup, and disaster recovery to safeguard company information and maintain business continuity.
    • Ensure the company remains compliant with all industry regulations and best practices in information security and data privacy.
  • Budgeting & Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage the IT department’s annual budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement and deployment of technology resources.
    • Evaluate and recommend IT investments, ensuring return on investment through improved efficiency, performance, and risk mitigation.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with department heads to understand their technology needs and support business processes.
    • Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for digital transformation and implement technologies that support business innovation.
    • Provide technical guidance and strategic advice to the executive team regarding the adoption of new technologies and system upgrades.
  • Comply with all quality, food safety, and Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. 
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned.

  

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • A Master’s degree in IT Management would be considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT management, with at least 3 years in a senior IT leadership role.
  • Strong experience managing IT infrastructure and support operations, including ERP systems, manufacturing automation, point-of-sale systems, and cloud technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity, compliance, and data privacy management.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with experience in developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering IT projects on time and within budget.
  • In-depth knowledge of system architecture, networking, software development, and cybersecurity.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical information into business language for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to stay updated on emerging technologies and trends that can benefit the business.
