Head Chef

Job Overview:
The Head Chef is responsible for overseeing all culinary operations within the restaurant, and is ultimately the responsible person for ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation,
and service is sent out to customers. This role involves menu creation, recipe development specifically for Vizma restaurant, staff management, and maintaining a safe, clean and efficient
kitchen environment, whilst ensuring all equipment are used with the appropriate care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and innovate seasonal menus and develop recipes that reflect the restaurant's concept while meeting customer preferences and dietary restrictions.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of all dishes, ensuring consistency and quality in accordance with restaurant standards.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Manage inventory, order supplies, and control food costs to maintain profitability while minimizing waste.
  • Ensure all kitchen operations comply with health and safety regulations, including sanitation standards and safe food handling practices.
  • Occasionally engage with customers to gather feedback and enhance the dining experience.
  • Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and address any guest concerns immediately.
  • Assist in developing and managing kitchen budgets, controlling labor and food costs while maximizing efficiency. Ensure stocks are above minimum levels and informing the Restaurant Manager the need to replenish stocks in a timely manner.
  • Stay updated on culinary trends, techniques, and best practices, implementing innovative ideas into kitchen operations.
  • Collaborate with management to innovate menu items and specials.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a similar role in a reputable restaurant.
  • Graduate of a reputable culinary school will be an asset.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Creative flair and passion for food, with a focus on quality and presentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Expertise in pairing ingredients, various cooking techniques and cuisines.

Working Conditions:

  • Requires long hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Physical demands may include standing for long periods, lifting heavy items, and working in hot conditions.
