Reports to: Engineering Superintendent/Manager and Engineer Supervisor

Job Summary: As an HVAC Mechanic, you would be responsible for maintaining the physical functionality and safety of the hotel's heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment and machinery in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Maintenance:
    • Maintain, monitor, repair, conduct routine preventive maintenance and non-scheduled maintenance of all heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment including, but not limited to, replacing mechanical seals, re-packing pumps and valves, replacing bearings and bets, checking for proper alignment, repairing fan coil units, brazing and soldering, calibrating controls, working on pressure vessels, replacing piping and fittings
    • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure they are operating efficiently.
    • Troubleshooting and Repairs:
      • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in HVAC systems.
      • Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring.
      • Test systems and components using electrical, mechanical, digital, and pneumatic controls.
      • Record and report completed repairs and items that require further attention
      • Conduct visual inspections of gauges, dials and mechanical equipment
      • Assist in start-up, shut-down and operation of all heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment
      • System Upgrades and Improvements:
        • Recommend and implement upgrades to HVAC systems to improve efficiency and reliability.
        • Stay informed about the latest industry trends and technologies.
        • Compliance and Safety:
          • Ensure all installations and repairs comply with company standards, local, state, and federal regulations.
          • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
          • Respond to guest calls and team member work orders in a timely, friendly and efficient manner to correct temperature conditions and to make adjustments
          • Customer Service:
            • Interact with customers to understand their needs and provide technical support and recommendations.
            • Document all service activities including work performed, parts used, and customer interactions.
            • Team Collaboration:
              • Work with other technicians, maintenance workers, and contractors as needed.
              • Provide training and support to junior technicians and apprentices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces.
  • Capable of standing, walking, and working for long periods in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Exposure to temperature extremes, noise, and hazardous materials.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years in a hotel, hospital, or building.
  • Knowledge of LG and Samsung HVAC, particularly VRF system, Model - Multi V 5
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
