To provide site safety leadership, ensure facility compliance with corporate safety and security standards, implement safety directives, improve safety performance, and ensure facility safety policies and processes are aligned with governmental rules.

Job Specification/ Requirements:

An individual must process evidence of Managerial competency by way of certification and experience. Certification should be no less than a tertiary level Certificate or Diploma. Experience should be no less than five (5) years in a managerial capacity in a connected organization.  Additional qualifications include Precept, FUEC, Security Management, First Aid, CPR, AED and Computer Literacy. 

 

Responsibilities:

1 .   Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks raise safety consciousness and improve work practices.

2.   Facilitate a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture.

3.   Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and utilization of safety equipment.

4.   Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.

5.   Investigate industrial accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to find reasons, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities

6.   Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.

7.   Coordinate employee safety programs to determine their adequacy, including review of short and long term strategic safety planning and development.

8.   Reviews annual employee appraisal forms completed by Divisional Managers’ Staff, conducts second interview with employees where applicable and files same for completion of Annual Appraisals.

9.   Ensures that all applicable reports are properly completed in a timely fashion.

10. Ensures that all applicable records are properly filed and accessible only to persons with the proper authority.

11. Order and maintain facility safety, inventory including supplies and equipment.

12. Work within company policy as drafted in the SESL Limited Employee Handbook and in complement with the SESL limited Human Resource Policy Manual, SESL Limited Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules.

13. Is reasonably available on a 24-hour basis for emergency situations.

14. Any other duties or responsibilities as determined by management, considered reasonably commensurate with a managerial position in a security organization.
