Responsible for assisting with operational and administrative duties within the HSE Department. To provide administrative and operational support to the Senior HSE Officer in managing the HSE operations of the company, assist in implementing and enforcing the policies of the company.

Nature and Scope

Essentially the Health, Safety, & Environment Assistant is responsible for assisting in the effective implementation, monitoring and enforcement of all HSE policies and procedures throughout Trinrico Steel and Wire Products Limited. This involves periodic review of all policies and procedures to ensure they comply with the standards set by the relevant national legislation governing safety and standards, acceptable industry standards, as well as directed requirements that may be implemented by Trinrico.

Specific Accountabilities

  1. Assist in providing occupational health, safety, and environmental advice to the Senior HSE Officer.
  2. Assists with the continuous review and amendments where necessary, of the existing HSE policies and procedures.
  3. Assist the Senior HSE Officer in the implementation and conduct of the Factory wide Risk Assessment program.
  4. Support line management with advice on Contractor HSE Management
  5. Assist in coordinating all aspects of the Health & Safety Committee including conducting/facilitating the relevant HSE training and awareness sessions for employees at all levels, to ensure a high safety culture is elevated and maintained in the organization.
  6. Ensure tasks are undertaken in accordance with Company Policy, including risk assessments, surveys, drafting relevant policies and compiling of reports.
  7. To assist the Senior HSE Officer in implementing safety as a core business function of the department by keeping HSE measures under constant review to ensure that they are adequate to meet current threats to business.
  8. Conducts periodic inspections of all fire fighting equipment, machines, equipment and factory operations to ensure compliance with established HSE policies and procedures.
  9. Ensures all emergency contingencies are properly documented and are communicated to all staff and stakeholders, including routine drills, emergency tests, equipment inspections etc.
  10. Collect and Provide data analysis to monitor safety performance.
  11. Ensures all non-conformances are documented and corrective action is taken to prevent accidents.
  12. Assist in coordinating and participating in investigations into all work-related accidents and “near misses”, conduct necessary follow-ups and submit relevant reports on a timely basis.
  13. Provide HSE support for all Shipments including inbound and outbound
  14. Maintains all legally required records relating to the organization’s HSE performance and reports these to Senior HSE Officer on a monthly basis or as required.

 

Person Specifications

 

Minimum Acceptable Academic/Technical/Professional Qualifications

NEBOSH Certification or Diploma in OSH.

 

Minimum Number of Years of Relevant Experience

2 - 3 years’ work experience as an HSE Officer.

 

 

Specific Skills/Experience and/or Knowledge

 Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Excellent team building, analytical, investigative and reporting skills.

Good knowledge of workplace safety and health issues.

Proficient in MS Office Suite / Health & Safety applications

Effective communication/ business writing skills

Excellent Interpersonal and time management skills.

 Salary

$6,000 - $8,000 Monthly
