Job Summary:
The HR Officer will be responsible for supporting the Human Resources department in managing various HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, training and development, and employee welfare. This role will work closely with management at company branches in Barbados, Suriname, and Guyana to ensure consistent and effective HR practices across all locations. The HR Officer will require strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive employee issues in a confidential and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruitment & Onboarding:
    • Assist in the recruitment process, including posting job ads, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and preparing offer letters.
    • Ensure new employees have a smooth onboarding experience, including orientation and introduction to company policies.
  • Employee Records Management:
    • Maintain and update employee records and HR databases, ensuring that they are accurate, confidential, and compliant with legal and regulatory standards.
    • Assist in the preparation of reports related to employee demographics, turnover, and other HR metrics.
  • Payroll Support:
    • Assist with payroll administration by ensuring that all necessary employee data is submitted accurately and on time.
    • Address any employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and compensation.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Act as a point of contact for employees regarding HR matters, offering advice and guidance on company policies and procedures.
    • Support in handling employee grievances and disciplinary actions, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Training & Development:
    • Coordinate training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and performance.
    • Track training progress and maintain records of employee certifications and development activities.
  • Health, Safety, and Compliance:
    • Assist in ensuring compliance with local labor laws, health, safety, and employment regulations.
    • Support the implementation and monitoring of health and safety protocols in coordination with the HSSE department.
  • Performance Management:
    • Assist in coordinating performance appraisal processes and employee evaluations.
    • Provide support to management regarding performance improvement plans and employee development strategies.
  • Employee Welfare:
    • Monitor employee welfare programs and ensure that employees are aware of available benefits and support services.
    • Assist in coordinating employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Regional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with management teams in the company’s branches in Barbados, Suriname, and Guyana to ensure HR policies and practices are aligned across all locations.
    • Provide HR support and guidance tailored to the specific needs of each regional branch, fostering consistency in company culture and employee engagement.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an HR role, ideally within a security or similar service-oriented industry.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, Trinidad & Tobago labor laws, and employment regulations.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Certifications:
    • HR certification (e.g., CIPD or SHRM) is a plus.
