To assist with development and Implementation of risk mitigation strategies and practices in the management of the Credit Union’s Human Resource and Industrial Relations portfolio.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive system of departmental and organizational manpower needs assessment and succession planning;
  • Assists in development and maintenance of up to date organizational and departmental charts;
  • Maintains a manual and electronic record of individual employee data and organizational skills bank;
  • Prepares, reviews and updates all job descriptions;
  • Ensures that HR Policies and Procedures are developed, routinely reviewed and effectively implemented;
  • Performs quarterly HR Audits;
  • Facilitates the recruitment and selection process;
  • Maintains the schedule for time preparation of semi-annual performance appraisals;
  • Prepares reports to facilitate the Reward & Recognition process;
  • Prepares reports on all developmental/disciplinary issues for submission to the Manager for appropriate action;
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual HR Reports:
  • Assists in the development and implementation of training and talent management plans;
  • Schedules employee visits, when necessary, to the Credit Union’s medical practitioners;
  • Prepares all relevant documentation related to Terminal Benefits/Contract Gratuity/Workmen’s Compensation/NIB Benefit claims;
  • Manages all matters related to staff uniform administration;
  • Exercises direct supervision of the leave management system;
  • Monitors staff punctuality & attendance and reports excessive absenteeism and tardiness to the Manager with recommendations for follow-up action;
  • Maintains a log of all incoming and outgoing HR correspondence;
  • Prepares and monitors departmental budgets and proactively reports negative variances;
  • Maintains log of all Industrial Relations matters and provides monthly status reports to the Manager;
  • Supervises and coaches two subordinate staff;
  • Plans & executes HR initiated events;
  • Prepares appropriate monthly instructions to Accounts Department pertaining to payroll adjustments;
  • Performs any other HR related duties as and when required.

 

Education & Training

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management or Behavioural Science;
  • Certificate in Industrial Relations
  • Certificate in Supervisory Management

 

Knowledge & Experience

  • Four (4) to Five (5) years’ experience in a unionized environment in a similar position;
  • At least one-year supervisory experience in a unionized environment;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of labour laws and Industrial Relations best practice;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Experience in the preparation of payroll;
  • Experience in Report Writing is essential.
