Job Purpose

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Group Executive Manager of Human Resources to lead our HR function across the group. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing complex HR operations and driving organizational change. This position will be responsible for overseeing the industrial relations and employee relations portfolio and leading on the HR metrics and reporting, talent acquisition and training initiatives, employee engagement, performance management and compensation and benefits

RECRUITMENT & SELECTION

  • Responsible for the recruitment and selection of all positions in the Group which includes activities such as: sending out internal vacancy ads, screening applications, scheduling interviews, conducting interviews, completing reference checks, working with recruitment agencies, etc
  • Continuously look for ways to build an employee feeder pool by liaising with Educational Institutions, conducting suitability interviews, attending careers fairs, etc
  • In collaboration with the GMs and Leaders determine staffing needs
  • Create, update and maintain job descriptions for all job functions.
  •  

 

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

  • In collaboration with GMs and Leaders, effectively manage the Performance Management process with an aim to elevate the level of performance of each employee and by extension the Company. This includes activities such as - providing advice and guidance to all leaders and employees; scheduling and conducting yearly, probationary and observatory period appraisals reviews and ensuring that they are completed in a timely manner.   
  • Recognize and commend employees for excellence in job performance.
  • Assist Leaders in maintaining electronic logs for employees.

 

PAYROLL

  • Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the monthly and fortnightly payrolls for all permanent and temporary staff in the organization in collaboration with the HR Assistant; using Micropay software.
  • Responsible for handling employee queries and questions

 

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

  • Manage employee relations procedures and practices to ensure positive employee-employer relationship that promotes a high level of employee commitment and an effective Industrial Relations climate.
  • Provide advice and guidance to all leaders and employees on Company Policies and Procedures and all HR related matters.
  • Effectively manage the disciplinary process; thoroughly investigating all employee conduct and performance related issues and write disciplinary letters accordingly.
  • Attend meetings with Lawyers, Ministry of Labor, Conciliations and matters at the Industrial Court.
  • Conduct Exit Interviews with employees.  

 

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT

  • Develop and execute initiatives to improve employee engagement.
  • Manage all Employee Recognition Programs, e.g. Employee of the month. 
  • Member and/or Chair of the BSG Employee Engagement Committee
  • Responsible for the BSG Newsletter 

 

 

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

  • In collaboration with the GMs and Leaders, develop a Training Budget and Schedule to meet the needs of the Company by the end of the 3rd Quarter for the following year.
  • Submit quarterly update on staff training, to be reviewed by the General Managers.
  • Assess and determine training needs by reviewing completed Performance Appraisals Forms
  • Plan, schedule and implement internal and external training for all employees in accordance with the approved training schedule.

 

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Responsible for the maintenance of all employees hard copy and efiles, maintaining an accurate filing system.
  • Proper Management of the organization's leave of absence
  • Ensure the preparation of HR correspondence including job letters, memos, etc occur on a timely basis.

 

LEADERSHIP

  • Develop the HR Strategies and contributes to long term strategic plan.
  • Collaborates with all departments in the preparation of the annual HR Operating Plan and prepare the Annual HR Budget.
  • Allocate resources strategically by identifying potential areas for reskilling or upskilling existing employees.
  • Create salary reviews that are easy to share, track and approve. Empower leaders to make informed compensation decisions.
  • Access relevant regulations and updates, stay informed of changes in legal requirements and mitigate all compliance risks.
  • Identifies policy deficiencies and aids in drafting and reviewing policy under the direction of the Generals Managers and Board of Directors.
  • Manages the implementation and management of policies and procedures.
  • Submits monthly reports and board reports.
  • Enhance work experience for employees of the Group by creating a motivating, positive work environment where employees feel that they can communicate openly and that they are part of a productive Team by:
  • Instilling core values 
  • Ensuring employees feel supported and able to communicate successes, concerns and challenges.  Understanding and finding solutions to challenges

 

HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT

  • Responsible for enforcing adherence to the regulations set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Trinidad and Tobago for all BSG locations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Group Executive Manager IT, the Executive Manager Production and all other Leaders in the execution of all HSE solutions and strategies.
  • Responsible for the Wellness Program at BSG
  • Member and/or Chair of the HSE Committee, ensuring compliance with all HSE regulations.

 

It may be necessary, due to exigencies that may arise, to perform duties other than those normally falling within your ambit.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Studies, Psychology or any other relevant field of study.
  • Ten (10) years progressive HR experience with at least five (5) years’ experience at a management level.
  • Experience in Payroll Management will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in Employee and Industrial Relations Management will be considered an asset.
  • In depth knowledge of Labor Laws of Trinidad and Tobago
  • A Certificate in Industrial Relations.

  • Office environment.
  • May be required to visit the Warehouse and Production Departments from time to time.
  • Located in a Production environment where the scent of ink may be strong.
  • On occasion Warehouse environment to retrieve archived HR files.
