Geospatial Electronics Technician

To install, repair, maintain and troubleshoot automatic vehicle locator (AVL) units. Conducts field research for the data collection of Geospatial Data Provide technical support for the Geospatial Technology Division Business Unit.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manages and maintains AVL equipment to ensure network connectivity and proper location transmission. Troubleshoot, repair and replace defective equipment.
• Manages and maintains inventory of parts needed for proper operations of equipment.
• Installs, tests, troubleshoots and repairs AVL (Automatic Vehicle Locator) units.
• Programs units in accordance with specifications.
• Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs and records
• Investigates complaints, conducts tests and resolve issues.
• Verifies functionality of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance.
• Diagnoses malfunction or failure of equipment and performs corrective and preventative maintenance.
• Maintains customer confidence by keeping service information confidential.
• Participates in on-the-job training as required.
• Reports any deviations from company policy or safety practices to supervisor immediately. Ensures all safety practices and OSH requirements are consistently met and applied in the work environment and that all company policies as it relates to the safety and of fellow staff are complied with including self.
• Uses GPS units to collect and record waypoints and track the locations of Company assets, infrastructure, building and other geographically distributed features and passes this information on to GIS personnel.
• Provides technical support to users or clients regarding the maintenance, development or operation of AVL equipment.
• Prepares and sends reports as requested by Management.
• Assists with related special projects as requested by Management
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
