Our client, an organisation in the banking sector is seeking to fill the position of General Manager, Mortgage Banking.

Candidates must have at least seven (7) years’ experience at a managerial level to be considered.

 

JOB SUMMARY

The General Manager, Mortgage Banking will direct, administer and coordinate activities of the Mortgage Banking Department in accordance with policies, goals and objectives established by the company's strategic plan.

 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 Drives and oversees the sales and administration of the Company’s Products and Services.

  • Oversees the selling of the products and services of the Company, including Residential and Commercial Mortgages, and Project Financing.
  • Oversees credit risk analysis, forecasting and budgeting and expense control of the Mortgage Banking department.
  • Guides and directs, with overall responsibility, for the Branch office operations and business development.
  • Participates in discussions/negotiations with related external agencies.

Delivers strategic advice, support, and recommendations to enable informed decision making and strategy development.

  • Assists in developing strategic short- and long-term plans for the department's operations, personnel, financial performance and growth.
  • Oversees the development, implementation of and manages strategic goals, annual business plan, and budget for the Mortgage Banking department by ensuring alignment with overall Company strategies.
  • Serves as a strategic advisor to the Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer, Deputy CEOs, Management Team, and staff of the Company on complex issues relating to the sales and administration of the Company’s products and services.

Drives a high-performance culture within the Mortgage Banking Department.

  • Develops Operational Plans and Key Performance Indicators for the Mortgage Banking department.
  • Develops and recommends strategies to achieve and/or improve performance targets and efficiencies.
  • Prepares and reviews performance reports and develops initiatives to reward positive performance and remediate any gaps.
  • Drives leadership development initiatives and succession planning for the Company’s Mortgage Banking Department.

Prepares, reviews, and submits reports prepared for submission to management and other key stakeholders

  • Establishes and administers a comprehensive management reporting system for the Mortgage Banking department.
  • Reviews, approves, and provides reports to external agencies.
  • Reviews reports provided by the staff within the department.
  • Provides the Deputy CEO, with status updates on Residential and Commercial Mortgage matters and other reports as required.
  • Develops and submits departmental performance reports.

Reviews and approves work, conducts performance appraisals, provides guidance and feedback in the execution of day-to-day duties

  • Manages outputs by assigning, reviewing and approving work within the Mortgage Banking department.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to staff by offering feedback, advice, and guidance to help employees develop.
  • Facilitates the execution of work by requesting resources for staff.
  • Assesses staff performance by reviewing and approving appraisals.
  • Develops and implements staff developmental and training plans.
  • Manages Relationships with External Stakeholders.
  • Manages and develops relationships with key personnel within the industry.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with external agencies to promote smooth and efficient service delivery to customers, and delivery of the recovery process.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s Degree or professional qualification in Business, Banking or related fields, or related experience.
  • At least 10 years’ industry related experience at a management level
  • Expert knowledge of sales, marketing & customer services processes including business solicitation and development.
