General Manager (Manufacturing)

Our client, a company in the manufacturing sector, is seeking to fill the position of General Manager.

JOB SUMMARY

The General Manager will oversee and integrate the strategic functions of Operations, Supply Chain, HSSE, and Quality while driving performance and managing the supply chain strategically ensuring compliance to the company’s policies and procedures, industry standards and regulations, to enhance product quality and ensure alignment with organisational goals and optimise operational efficiency.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Foster a high-performance culture by leading and mentoring managers across Operations, Supply Chain, HSSE, and Quality to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration to integrate quality control measures with operational and supply chain processes for consistent product excellence.
• Lead the formulation of departmental budgets and financial forecasts to align with the company's strategic objectives and support operational efficiency.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing best practices to enhance operational efficiency and achieve strategic goals.
• Monitor and analyse key performance metrics to assess strategic alignment, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure overall plant effectiveness.
• Develop and execute strategic plans for Operations to drive process improvements and achieve long-term performance targets.
• Direct the strategic selection and implementation of new technologies and equipment to enhance plant capabilities and maximize asset performance.
• Manage the supply chain to ensure cost-effective procurement, timely resource availability, and supply chain resilience.
• Negotiate and manage key supplier contracts to optimize procurement costs and secure favourable terms that support business objectives.
• Drive HSSE strategic initiatives to strengthen safety protocols, ensure regulatory compliance, and create a culture of safety throughout the plant.
• Lead the development and implementation of advanced safety and environmental programs to minimize risks and enhance plant safety standards.
• Oversee the quality management system to ensure product quality meets industry standards and support continuous improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management, supply chain, HSSE, and quality within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Proven track record of managing large teams and driving operational excellence.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
