GENERAL MANAGER

 

Job Title:         General Manager

Department:    Management

Reports To:      The Board of Directors

 JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for establishing and executing major goals and objectives for the Credit Union, as well as implementing policies established by the Board of Directors.  Provides leadership, direction and guidance for all Credit Union activities.  The General Manager also analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of all operations and represents the Credit Union to regulatory agencies, trade associations, members and other financial institutions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Attend all Board Meetings and is responsible for the Execution of all Board approved policies.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of effective strategic plans.  Direct and oversee short-run and long-run strategic planning, as well as to set overall objectives for all areas of the Credit Union.
  • Develop and implement operational plans, policies and goals that further strategic objectives, as well as, oversee the development of department strategies – mainly the financial strategic goals and policies.
  • Continually monitor the general economic environment and anticipated trends.  Update policies and procedures so they are commensurate with economic conditions.
  • Maintain full awareness of the complete financial, statistical and accounting records of the Credit Union.
  • Ensure that all assets of the Credit Union are adequately protected.
  • Recommend investments in a proper mix of securities to ensure adequate cash reserves and achieve reasonable growth and income within the organization’s risk tolerance.
  • Prepare annual budget for Board approval and ensure that operating results established in the annual budget are achieved, including the net interest spread, the control of operating expenses within budget, loan loss provisions, and the generation of reserves sufficient to achieve targeted capital growth.
  • Oversee the growth and quality of the loan portfolio.  Ensure that sound, collectible loans are written and that terms accommodate members’ needs, consistent with sound financial counseling.
  • Assume responsibility for the effective administration of Credit Union functions and support activities, which includes conducting regular staff meetings to disseminate pertinent information and to discuss operational methods, problems and solutions, ensuring that members’ problems or questions are promptly and courteously resolved and ensuring that members are appropriately informed regarding Credit Union policies and programs.
  • Evaluate corporate-wide operations and ensure their effectiveness.  Conduct and oversee research studies for the Board of Directors regarding savings practices, loan policies, insurance programs, marketing techniques and effectiveness of personnel programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.  Ensure that all legal obligations are completed including payment of taxes, maintenance of appropriate insurance and filing of required governmental reports.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Basic:               $22,250.00

Travelling:      $  2,000.00

VACANCY – GENERAL MANAGER 

SFCCU Credit Union Co-operative Society Limited is seeking to recruit a dynamic, innovative, quality focused and results-oriented individual for the position of General Manager.

JOB SUMMARY

The General Manager is responsible for the overall management of the day-to-day operations, compliance and performance of the Credit Union.

The incumbent shall be accountable to the Board of Directors for the execution of these functions, and will also be responsible for ensuring financial stability of the Credit Union, while delivering exceptional service to our members.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • A professional accounting qualification at ACCA, CMA or FCCA level.
  • Training as evidenced by possession of postgraduate qualifications in Business.
  • Strong knowledge of credit union operations, regulations and financial principles.
  • Five (5) years working experience in an equivalent or related position.
  • Knowledge of Emortelle Software would be an asset.

 

Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of qualifications, training and experience.
