Generally, the Human Resource Officer must have a working knowledge of Human Resource Management as they will be required to support all other areas from time to time.

Position Summary

The Human Resource Officer (HRO)- is responsible for several specialist areas in Human Resource Management, these include Training and Development, Recruitment and Selection, Manpower Management: performance management, employee relations andn policy and procedure development and implementation.  

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the recruitment and selection activity and manpower movement activity for staff.
  • Develop & execute a comprehensive Orientation Programme for the Credit Union
  • Oversight of the Credit Union Training and Development annual program
  • Conduct all Training Needs Assessments and create a Training Matrix to inform training plan and budget.
  • Develop, organize, and evaluate Training Programs in conjunction with Departmental heads.  
  • Administers the Credit Union’s training functions to ensure maximum benefit to the Credit Union and the employee.
  • Accountable for the coordination of all in-house training and sourcing of materials to be used in training.
  • Manage TECU Learning Centre (e-books; training material; library equipment etc).
  • Coordinate the Cross-training programme and performance improvement plan process.
  • Manage and facilitate Reward and Recognition initiatives.
  • Research, develop and assist in the implementation of HR Policies and Practices
  • Support the administration performance management system of the Credit Union
  • Promote and participate in Employee Engagement activity.
  • Support HR Manager in industrial relations research.
  • Provide required support and information to employees on training, development, and career progress.
  • Perform any other related duties as required by the job function.

General Qualification and Experience

Education

  • B.Sc. in Management Studies with specialized training in Human Resource Management from an accredited Institution.
  • Certification in Industrial Relations Management and Labour law

Experience

  •  At least five (5) years’ experience, specializing in Human Resource Management.

 Or any equivalent combination of qualification and experience

Technical Knowledge

  • Training
  • Mediation
  • Coaching and Mentoring
