A leading supermarket chain is seeking to identify a General Manager with exceptional leadership capabilities and credentials in driving growth and operational efficiency to join the executive management team.

The Role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager will provide leadership and direct the company’s operations, develop and implement necessary strategies and plans to strengthen business performance and deliver outstanding results.

Other Key Accountabilities are to:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the business – all departments
  • Design strategic goals for growth and efficiency
  • Develop strategies to drive business goals and objectives.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors.
  • Support board deliberations on operational activities
  • Maintain budgets and optimize expenses and profitability
  • Provide guidance perspective on operational efficiency and business performance.
  • Set operational policies and procedures
  • Engage and lead the team to improve business performance.
  • Prepare reports for management

Profile

  • MBA in business management studies.
  • A compelling record of driving business growth in a similar position preferably gained in retail or operations.
  • Knowledge of business process and functions (finance, operations etc.).
  • Experience in planning and budgeting.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Critical thinker with problem-solving aptitude.
  • Team building skills that promote collaboration around excellence to deliver consistent outstanding results.
  • 7+ years of experience in retail management or operations.
  • Knowledge of operational procedures and customer service standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to delegate responsibility and collaborate across a range of departments. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and retail management software.
