Role Summary

The General Manager - Feed Mill is responsible for the overall management of the feed mill, including production, quality control, inventory management, and customer service. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the feed industry and be able to lead and motivate a team of employees.

Duties and Responsibilities Summary

• Responsibility for maintaining the plant and equipment.
• Oversee the production of feed products in accordance with quality standards.
• Manage inventory levels and ensure that the mill has sufficient raw materials to meet demand.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers and ensure that the mill receives the best possible pricing along with developing the formulas with the nutritionist.
• Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase sales in local and export markets.
• Manage a team of employees and ensure that they are properly trained and motivated.
• Comply with all applicable regulations.
• Liaising with the various stakeholders to deliver their needs to the highest standards including doing site visits to customers.

Qualifications and Skills Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in animal science, agriculture, or a related field.
• A mechanical engineering degree or equivalent would be an asset.
• A track record of applied engineering skills.
• 5+ years of experience in the feed industry.
• Strong understanding of feed production and quality control.
• Knowledge and experience with HACCP certification or other quality control systems in the food industry.
• Experience in inventory management and customer service.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Evidence of highly technical skills would be an asset.
