Job Summary
The Group Engineer will oversee the engineering and maintenance operations across our group of hotels. This role is pivotal in driving our strategic initiatives on conservation and operational efficiency. The Group Engineer will manage the recommissioning and maintenance of our Combined Cooling Heat and Power (CCHP) plant, explore and implement water resource projects including drilling wells and desalination RO plants, and lead our preventative maintenance programs. Additionally, the Group Engineer will provide engineering guidance for planned incremental expansions.
Position Roles and Responsibilities:
− Oversee the engineering operations across all hotel properties
− Develop and implement engineering standards, policies, and procedure
− Combined Cooling Heat and Power (CCHP) Plant
− Manage the recommissioning and maintenance of the CCHP plant
− Identify and implement energy efficiency initiatives to reduce operational costs.
− Monitor energy consumption and develop strategies for conservation
− Lead the exploration and implementation of water resource projects including drilling wells and desalination RO plants
− Develop sustainable water management practices to reduce dependency on municipal supply
− Provide engineering guidance for planned expansions and renovations
− Oversee project timelines, budgets, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
− Management budget without compromising the guest experience and operational effectiveness
− Ensure that that the human resources are optimized through the proper monitoring of manning and manning hours
− Ensure that procedures and due diligence are followed, especially in respect to procurement, hiring, approval for payment
− Monitor maintenance metrics that influence the guest experience
− Monitor effective communication and feedback to guest regarding maintenance complaints
− Lead and mentor the engineering and maintenance teams across all properties
− Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
− Monitor performance of Maintenance Team through ongoing training, feedback, One-to-One targets, Coaching, mentoring and development plans
− Ensure that the maintenance team practice the principles of, reuse, reduce, recycle and refusal of any product or behaviour that does not support our environmental policy
− Practice monthly team brief to ensure consistent communication documentation and communication on people issues, policy, progress and points for action
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in the hospitality or related industry.
• Proven experience in managing CCHP plants and water resource projects.
• Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and energy conservation strategies.
• Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
