DOMLEC requires for employment an individual to fill the position of GIS Supervisor

 

Job Summary

 

Manage and analyze GIS systems for system-wide use. Responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and analysis of system-wide geographic information systems (GIS). Works closely with departments to integrate spatial data into operations, including designing custom applications with associated training. The incumbent works under the general direction of the Engineering, Transmission and Distribution Manager, with direct supervision from the Planning, Projects and Development Engineer in regard to GIS development and project initiatives. Does related work as required.

 

1.         Required Qualifications and Education

 

  • Bachelor’s degree Geography, Computer Science or related filed, or Diploma in Geography or Computer Science combined with an Advanced Diploma in Geographic Information Systems specializing in GIS or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

 

2.         Required experience

 

  1. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in GIS with considerable exposure to:

 

  • ArcGIS Enterprise Platform (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server)
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Industry mapping standards, requirements and principles
  • Programming/scripting skills (SQL, Python, Arcade, VB Script, HTML, JavaScript)
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD, including AutoCAD for ArcGIS Plugin
  • Experience in the electric utility industry is strongly preferred

 

  1. At least two (2) years in a supervisory role

 

  • Preparing GIS maps
  • Preparing Geo-database/Web queries
  • Geospatial data manipulation

 

3.         Desired competencies

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely in both oral and written formats to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to exercise courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in the exchange of information with other employees, contractors, partner agencies and organizations, and members of the public.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Willingness to learn and keep current with changing technology

 

            Technical Skills

 

  • Proficiency in GIS Software such as Esri Desktop software (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro), mobile (Collector and Survey 123), and web (Portal/ArcGIS Online).
  • In-depth knowledge of utility network data including Esri geometric networks and other data structures for maintaining Electrical network data.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Products (Teams, Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to establish and maintain skills related to GIS including hardware, software and extensions through education and hands-on experience.

 

 

Other Requirements

 

  • Must possess a valid Class C Driver’s License.
