A medium sized bakery is seeking candidates to fill the position of Food Safety and Quality Officer. This position is responsible for implementing food safety and quality control measures.

 The Food Safety and Quality Control officer is responsible for designing and implementing programmes that will ensure  our products are produced in accordance with established food and safety guidelines. The Food Safety and Quality Officer will work alongside all levels of staff to ensure that all aspects of production—from raw materials to finished goods—are handled properly therby maintaining and improving quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and implement programmes geared at improving the overall quality programme
  • Design and deliver training programmes to improve the knowledge and strenghten food safety and quality control measures throughout the organization.
  • Design and implement food safety and quality control plan(s) in accordance with HACCP and GMP standards.
  • Conduct routine audits of SOPs to ensure compliance and address gaps.
  • Review reports, investigate quality and food safety breach and implement measures to address shortfalls
  • Observe production process to ensure activities are being carried out appropriately
  • Review and investigate customer complaints and implement measures to address highlighted issues with quality
  • Routine quality checks of raw materials and finished goods;
  • Product quality control assessment (Shape, size, colour, taste and shelf life);
  • Identification of non-conformances, performing root cause analysis and issue appropriate corrective actions;



 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  •  Tertiary education in Microbiology or a similar field;
  • Certificate in FSPCA Preventive Controls  for Human Food is mandatory;
  • HACCP certified;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar position in a manufacturing organization;
  • Proficient in MS Office – special emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint and Word (required to create effective reports);
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work on shifts (weekend and public holidays).
