We're hiring a Food & Beverage Manager for our client in Kingston

The Food & Beverage Manager is a key role within a high-end private household for a senior government official. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food and beverage services, including menu planning, meal preparation, and guest service. Additionally, this role encompasses full management of housekeeping operations, including staff supervision, inventory management, and the implementation of high standards for cleanliness and organization throughout the residence.

Key Responsibilities

Food & Beverage Management

  • Menu Planning: Develop daily and event-specific menus in consultation with the principal, considering dietary needs, cultural preferences, and seasonal ingredients.
  • Meal Preparation & Service: Oversee or assist in the preparation and presentation of meals, ensuring high standards of taste, quality, and aesthetics.
  • Event Coordination: Plan and execute special events, private dinners, and gatherings, coordinating with external chefs or caterers when necessary.
  • Beverage Curation: Select and maintain an inventory of premium wines, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring appropriate pairing and serving standards.
  • Food Safety & Hygiene: Implement and uphold rigorous food safety and hygiene practices in the kitchen and dining areas.

Housekeeping Management

  • Daily Housekeeping Oversight: Lead the daily operations of the housekeeping team, ensuring all areas of the residence are maintained to impeccable standards.
  • Cleaning & Maintenance: Develop and monitor cleaning schedules for common areas, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor spaces. Ensure regular deep cleaning, including upholstery, carpets, and window treatments.
  • Laundry & Linen Management: Supervise laundry operations, ensuring proper care of fine linens, clothing, and other fabrics. Maintain a system for tracking and rotating linens.
  • Organizational Standards: Establish and maintain household organization systems for closets, storage areas, and kitchen supplies to ensure efficiency and ease of use.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of all household areas to ensure they meet high standards of cleanliness and orderliness.

Inventory & Procurement

  • Supply Management: Maintain an accurate inventory of all kitchen, food, beverage, and housekeeping supplies, including cleaning products, toiletries, and linens.
  • Purchasing: Manage purchasing of all food, beverage, and housekeeping items, ensuring quality while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Vendor Relations: Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and reliable deliveries. Evaluate and negotiate contracts with vendors for cost-effectiveness.
  • Budgeting: Develop and manage budgets for food, beverage, and housekeeping supplies. Track expenditures and ensure cost-effective operations.

Staff Supervision & Training

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen, housekeeping, and service staff to ensure smooth daily operations and excellent service delivery.
  • Training & Development: Conduct training for staff on service etiquette, housekeeping standards, and safety protocols.
  • Performance Management: Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and implement improvement plans as needed to maintain high standards.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • SOP Development: Create, implement, and regularly update SOPs for food service, housekeeping tasks, and inventory management to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure adherence to SOPs and health and safety regulations. Conduct regular audits and reviews of procedures to identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role within a high-end private household, luxury hotel, or fine dining establishment, with responsibilities in both food service and housekeeping.
  • Education: An undergraduate degree or certification in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or Housekeeping Management is preferred.
  • Supervisory training & experience
  • Food Handler’s permit
