Floor Supervisor

Job Overview:
The Floor supervisor a is highly versatile position, responsible for overseeing daily operations on the restaurant floor, ensuring a high level of customer service and efficient workflow. This role involves supervising staff, filling the role of the Manager when required, backfilling for front and back of the house positions, coordinating service, and maintaining the overall dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead the front-of-house staff, providing training, guidance, and support to ensure optimal performance and teamwork.
  • Ensure exceptional service by monitoring guest satisfaction, addressing any concerns or escalating to the Manager, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Assist in managing daily operations, including coordinating seating, reservations, and dining room flow during busy periods.
  • Act as a liaison between front-of-house and kitchen staff to ensure seamless service and effective communication.
  • Prepare staff roster and manage shifts to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours and must also be able to fill in the kitchen roles when required.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels for front-of-house supplies, such as tableware, stock, and linens, and communicate needs to management.
  • Conduct training for new staff members on service standards, menu knowledge, and customer interaction.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as restaurant policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a restaurant or hospitality setting is preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a restaurant kitchen is an asset.
  • Graduate from a culinary school will be an asset.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage operations, including menu items and service standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Fast-paced restaurant environment with high customer interaction.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays is required.
  • Physical demands may include standing for long periods and occasionally lifting heavy items.
