Manages portfolios to ensure performance and profitability, following regulations and policies. Executes strategies to meet client satisfaction and business targets within risk limits.

Job Summary:
Manages specified trading and investment portfolios, over a period, to ensure a high level of performance/profitability for the company in accordance with guiding regulations, procedures, and policies.

Executes portfolio specific strategies that aim to achieve client satisfaction, generate business, and meet assigned targets in alignment with risk appetite of the Company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulates short- medium term strategies to manage assigned portfolios on the domestic, regional, and international markets with due consideration of the company’s risk constraints.
  • Monitors and manages various asset positions in particularly JMMB’s net currency positions so as to maximise on currency movements on assigned portfolios, other asset positions that are monitored include (US treasury positions, equity positions and leverage positions).
  • Maintains relationships with local and international traders, Brokers, and other Financial Institutions to position the JMMB brand for business generation.
  • Retain and grow existing portfolios through identifying investment opportunities and taking advantage by realizing profits.
  • Assists in the processing of transactions for investment, trading and client portfolios, which requires developing and managing the relationship between branches, Investment Advisors and Client Relationship Officers and head office by growing the securities &/ asset trading to ensure the achievement of that target and other targets, through providing pricing information, market information/developments, market outlook, etc.
  • Reports on local, regional and international markets thus identifying opportunities or threats for the existing and potential investment options. This include preparing various tracking and performance reports for Board report as well as for submission for decision-making.
  • Manages risks, in conjunction with the Portfolio and Liquidity Manager which involves monitoring the markets, liquidity management and managing stop loss for bond positions according to the Investment Policy Statement (IPS).
  • Assist in developing and managing training programs and strategies to enhance transactions through the frontline and all other revenue units on the various asset classes (ie. through branches, Investment Advisors and Client Relationship Officers).
  • Assist in the provision of pricing info for the valuation of JMMB’s portfolio and its related companies where necessary.
  • Promotes the JMMB’s philosophy of the Vision of Love and its unique culture.
  • Is engaged in the transformation process for the continuous improvement of the JMMB and its associated companies.

Qualifications (Education & Certification):

  • First Degree in Finance, Economics, or Business (with emphasis on Financial Management), CFA Level 1 or in pursuit of such designation.
  • Pursuing post-graduate or professional qualification will be an asset.
  • Licensed by the Financial Services Commission or other appropriate regulator, or a suitable candidate for licensing.

Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years’ work experience in trading financial instruments with an excellent understanding of Fixed Income Securities, equities, currencies, derivatives and Money Market Operations.
  • Having a record of accomplishment of revenue generated by successful trading is also required. Working knowledge of financial sector laws, regulations, ethics,professional jargon and exposure to international capital markets.
  • Experience in pricing financial instruments, econometric modelling and forecasting techniques would be an asset.
