The Fitter is responsible for layout, fit up, assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of structural and piping assemblies as per specified drawings.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment, e.g. Oxy-Acetylene and ensure Responsible Care is the primary focus of all contract personnel.
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools.
- Install clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping system and sprinkler and fire protection equipment, using hand and power tools.
- Set up system for pneumatic or hydrostatic testing.
- Read and interpret drawings, pressure and instrumentation and flow diagrams, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirements.
- Remove uneven surfaces and cut bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches.
- Structural fabrication and repair, align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins and pry bars.
- Align, level, and anchor machinery.
- Perform Housekeeping activities as required.
- Performs all other related job functions as required.
