Seeking an experienced Finished Carpenter to join our team!

 

Position: Finished Carpenter
Reports to: Engineering Manager/Engineer Supervisor

Primary Objective of Position:
Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood and other materials. Ensure that work is completed to high standards of quality, focusing on fine finishing tasks such as cabinetry, trim work, and detailed woodwork.

Essential Functions:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements.
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials accurately.
  • Install structures and fixtures, including windows, doors, cabinetry, and molding.
  • Conduct fine finishing tasks such as sanding, staining, and varnishing to achieve a high-quality finish.
  • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
  • Use hand and power tools to perform carpentry tasks efficiently and safely.
  • Ensure all work complies with local building codes and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other construction professionals and tradespeople to complete projects.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a finished carpenter.
  • High school diploma; completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program preferred.
  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers, etc.).
  • Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and finishing methods.
  • Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
  • Good physical condition and stamina.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Other:

  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards established from time to time is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs. Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
  • Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with company rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the facilities. Associates who violate rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

 

Supportive Functions:

  • Supervise necessary repairs and maintenance throughout the project.
  • Prepare technical data, bidding, project work, alterations, and repairs for properties.
  • Actively train in fire prevention, environmental health and safety, and carpentry systems.
  • Attend all meetings regarding operations, including department fire safety, health, and quality improvement.
  • Oversee daily and weekly tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Perform other assignments as directed by the manager.

Physical Demands:

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • The worker is subject to noise and vibration.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day.
