Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Group Corporate Accounting team in the capacity of:
Financial Analyst – Group Investor Relations & Management Accounting
Have responsibility for financial planning, analyses, and projections for the company.
Work closely with the executive team to set company-wide investment direction and policies.
Leverage a strong accounting and compliance background to explore historical financial data, predict future results and drive process
and policy improvements.
Location: Kingston
As a Financial Analyst, you will:
- Develop and execute an extensive analytical review of the operating expenses of the main reporting entities:
- Complete monthly and quarterly management reports including written explanations of variances between budget and prior periods.
- Evaluate if variance against budget is in line with expectations and determine if corrective actions can be taken to stem the rise in expenses.
- Identifying trends in financial performance and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Establish and evaluate profit plans and the associated expenses.
- Analyze and provide inputs in the preparation of management communication including the interpretation of financial reporting results for stakeholders.
- Coordinate with other members of the finance team and key management to analyze and discuss results.
- Effectively manage Sagicor Group’s budgeting & financial planning systems to obtain management and board approval of budgets.
- Liaise with the various team and key management to determine revisions made to budgeted results.
- Research and apply the impact of macroeconomic factors on forecasted results.
- Assist with forecasting the full-year performance of the Group.
- Assist with the development, maintenance and inputs of financial models and forecasting.
- Prepare X Fund reports for Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) and media publishing.
- Monitor management fees against shared service cost.
- Generate the accounting entries for the recording of management fees.
- Monitor expenses and where applicable identify cost containment strategies.
- Harden and effectively maintain costing and allocation systems within Sagicor Group.
- Maintain accurate generate ledgers.
- Request for invoices to be zero-rated from Tax administration Jamaica.
- Generate monthly financial statements and present financials at the quarterly board of directors meeting.
- File annual returns under the Charities Act.
- Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
- A minimum of three (3) years working experience in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Statistics.
- Knowledge of stated policies & procedures.
- Knowledge of the company’s products, services, and operations.
- Knowledge of any relevant regulatory requirements and applicable tax law.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- High level of proficiency with computer software packages such as spreadsheet applications.
- Proficiency with accounting software.
- High proficiency in financial modelling techniques.
- Strong technological, analytical and data gathering skills.
- Comfort dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work independently.
- Experience working with and presenting to senior executives.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Good business acumen.
- Proven leadership abilities.
